Sonya Stewart

Chief Financial Officer

Sonya is the Chief Financial Officer at Business Events Sydney (BESydney). Her role is a blend of finance, human resources and information technology. She has been with the company for 5 years.

Sonya has a degree in Economics and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Sonya commenced her career in the Chartered environment, working with Arthur Young and then KPMG for four years. Sonya broadened her commercial experience with a move to Diageo, where she worked for nine years in a variety of finance roles in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom.  Sonya’s final role with Diageo was Head of Planning, based in Diageo’s London headquarters.

After leaving Diageo, Sonya took time off to spend with her family, before returning to part time work.  To broaden her industry experience, Sonya worked in Finance Manager roles for a “start up” company in the shipping industry and then for a charity, before joining BESydney as Director of Finance in 2005.

Sonya’s knowledge base across a range of skills, her overseas experience and her readiness to meet exciting new challenges make her an asset to the organisation.
