James Stavrou
Business Development Manager
James brings new and unique concepts to Business Events Sydney (BESydney) in his role as Business Development Manager. He joined the team in April 2010, bringing with him knowledge of the global economy, experience in creating business ventures and a desire to boost Sydney’s International profile.
Having always had a passion for business, James completed a Bachelor of Economics, majoring in International Trade and Finance. His choice of study was based on wanting to gain knowledge and insights in business that he could apply to all aspects of his life and professional career.
The majority of James’ career has been in the banking and finance industry, primarily within retail banking. Before joining BESydney, James spent the past 18 months as an Account Manager at Macquarie Bank, and previously at Commonwealth Bank in a similar role.
James’ career change into the business tourism industry was sparked by his passion for travel, meeting new people and the desire to contribute to the local domestic economy. James is responsible for membership retention and growth, and liaising and educating stakeholders to ensure they have maximum understanding of their membership investment with BESydney.
A frequent traveler, James’ knowledge of different countries and what they offer the business events industry, his understanding of different cultures and economies, as well as his experience in personal business ventures are some of the many driving forces behind his aspiration to help make Sydney stand out from the rest.
