About Business Events Sydney
Business Events Sydney (BESydney) is Australia’s leading business events marketing organisation.
We were established in 1969 (then called the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau, or SCVB).
In September 2008, we renamed our organisation 'Business Events Sydney' to better reflect our goals and core operations which include:
Identifying international and national conferences, congresses, events, meetings and incentives.
Working beside organisations and business tourism leaders to attract those events to Sydney and NSW.
Providing information and assistance to meeting planners, incentive planners, travel agents, business visitors and the international media.
Helping increase Sydney’s high-yield business tourism market.

BESydney's mission is to position Sydney and New South Wales as world-renowned, dynamic and sustainable meeting destinations by being a global thought leader in the business event sector; challenging the status quo; and by connecting, engaging with and respecting its stakeholders.

BESydney is a not-for-profit organisation with more than 200 Strategic Partners and Members, including hotels, venues, restaurants, attractions, professional conference organisers (PCOs) and a range of specialists in the NSW events industry.

Business Events Sydney's chairman and executive team
The Chairman of the Board is Col Hughes, and BESydney’s Chief Executive Officer is Lyn Lewis-Smith. Our major operational departments are Business Development, Corporate Services and Strategy team, Strategic Marketing and Communications, Bid Management and Event Delivery.

At BESydney, we employ a team of around 40 staff-members who operate from a head office in Sydney and an Asian office in Singapore and China. We also have representatives in London, Montreal and India.
